Completions Engineer

A Major Operator requires a Completions Engineer to join them on a pipelines project in the UAE.

Leading role in contracting and procurement activities for completion support services. Progress completion planning and operational processes and procedures. Interface with the subsurface team to identify and mitigate completion risks around stimulation and completion efficiency.

Reports to VP-Drilling the main responsibilities include to:
1. Provide technical expertise and lead the technical planning and implementation of completion engineering activities ensuring that wells are designed and completed in a safe, cost effective, and an environmentally responsible manner.
2. Design and implement optimum horizontal completions for the development program as a core member of the Well Planning Team.
3. Prepare detailed completion procedures and contingency plans.
4. Prepare detailed planning and budget cost estimates for the completion and testing of development wells. Prepare AFEs and governmental approvals.
5. Develop and implement quality control inspections and testing procedures for down hole equipment to be utilized in completion and testing operations.
6. Provide functional guidance and contribute required technical scopes of work to the tendering processes for the development well program.
7. Generate material specifications and procurement scheduling for completions operations.
8. Provide on-site consultation to the Rig Supervisors during implementation of completion and testing procedures.
9. Develop completion metrics to drive high-quality and cost effective completions.
10. Coordinate After-Action-Reviews to access overall performance of services contractors and completions procedures being implemented.
11. Develop the operating limits for each completion in conjunction with production and reservoir engineers.
12. Coordinate well cleanup operations and subsequent testing to assure completion integrity prior to placing wells on production.
13. Support and adhere to the project timeline including coordinating peer reviews and post audits.
14. Ensure that all corporate and JV policies and practices are maintained and adhered to.
15. Interface with the drilling, projects, and operations personnel, and provide all necessary completion engineering input.
16. Establish contacts with the other operator in the area of operations to gather benchmarking data and determine best practices.
17. Design and implement rig and coiled tubing related remedial activities and recompletions whenever required.
18. Provide leadership in multi-discipline teams.
19. Mentor developing engineers within well operations.
20. Represent the JV at outside meetings with industry bodies or partners.


Suitabel candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the field of engineering with a minimum fifteen (15) years of industry experience; a minimum ten (10) years of supervisory position direct experience in completions engineering and operations. Exposure to, and experience of, working with H2S gas; Developed technical and functional expertise in all aspects of completion engineering with significant knowledge in testing and completion operations; Experience with horizontal and/or multi-lateral well technology; Experience with stimulating low-perm carbonates; Strong expertise in well flow analysis; Thorough understanding of all financial aspects of completion operations including budgeting, preparation of AFE's, cost forecasting, and estimation of service company contract values.
